Day Four

Dave and I had water woes again today.... This time driving through the flooded streets of Drayton.
We arrived in Winnipeg and parked at WalMart, called Sarah, called Chris. Dinner with Chris, Alison and the kids...Breakfast with Sarah, Tristan and Lilah tomorrow. Called Jane..... Now to get Dave off the living room floor and get Jemma to drive us (with our laundry) back to the parking lot.

Day Three

Oooh......Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink...... Had a snafu with one of the water values which caused a soaking. Could have been worse. Dave thinks that the leak was just the drain valve from the clean water tank (clean water, Thank you, God). We also have a leak from the check valve hook up; we hope to have every thing fixed on Friday morning. So after discovering our leak and drying as much as we could we decided to get on the road... miscommunication led to Dolly being gently and successfully backed up to get out of our drive through space.
We drove all day - through Christmas, too. I drove. Very cool...The construction was a little scary, but Dave was encouraging. Me, I was sweating.
Night saw us with our camp fire and chatting with our neighbours. Fun!!!!

Day Two

First two pictures were taken at Lake Nippissing this morning. We got though US Customs around 2:30, but didn't get to our campground 'til 5:00. We went 30 miles out of our way.... We know who's to blame.... It's raining but all's well.

Day One on the Road

Beautiful drive! Dave's a good driver.

We got to North Bay to find that our slick electric hook up fell out due to the rough road Hwy 17. Freaked out a little bit, but got all the lights working. Freaked out again when Dave thought the car came over the top of Dolly..... Eeeeek.... Bought dinner at Sobey's and off to find a camp site. Took a wrong turn..... On to a No Exit Road - Davey was following my directions as per GPS. Under normal circumstance this might not have been a problem, but the Enterprise cannot back up with Dolly and car. Dave and I cast aspersions and blame, then got the car off Dolly, Dolly off Enterprise, Enterprise turn around, Dolly on Enterprise, car on Dolly. Big Oak CampGrounds here we come.....

Dolly and the Enterprise

Pretty slick looking set up. Dave has done a great job of getting us ready to depart. It is raining this morning and driving with a tow dolly for the first time may be a challenge.

Our Big Adventure was almost cancelled for want of two body pillows and a duvet - I wanted them and Dave didn't - all was sorted out now..... the duvet and pillows are right where they started.... in the basement.

Ooooh, the magnetic lights on the Cougar will be wearing my panty-hose.

Trailer, Tow Dolly and the BIG Hitches

Oooooh, my aching back. The trailer is almost loaded - Dave and I are still stone sober. But that was the easy part of the past few days. Who knew that so many little things could cause problems.... First problem was the hitch that didn't extend past the bumper because of a small stay.... Grind the bumper? Have an extension made? Buy an extension, if such a creature is made?Solution - Bicycle carrier extension.... (perfect!! Now we need bikes). The second problem occurred when Dave broke off one of the taps, only one solution possible.... Dave replaced the taps. Very handy man!!! The third problem was the left turn signal from the trailer plug. It did not work on either the magnetic lights for the back of the car or on the tow dolly. Thanks goodness for our next door neighbour. Ron helped Dave rewire the 7 round plug properly! The previous owners of the trailer must have had issues!!!
All problems are now resolved and we may get gone tomorrow, Sunday, July 18, 2010.

Let the party begin. Dave and I have our motor home......all the neighbours have been in for a look. Now the safety and licensing of the vehicles, then packing and Up, up and Away!!! So cool.

I'll post when there's new info!

Ooooh, the disappointment

Well, no RV for a while.

The dealer needs to complete some work before we get the camper. Plans remain fluid......Oh, the disappointment.
